Let pF, pD, pT, pP be procedure indices, where pD, pT, pP have bodies difBody pD, ditBody pT, pow2Body pP (forward FFT, inverse FFT, powers of two). Let N≥1N\ge1N≥1 and write ℓ\ellℓ = fmL N (bit length of NNN), β\betaβ = fmB N (bit length of ℓ\ellℓ), k=⌊ℓ/2⌋−βk=\lfloor \ell/2\rfloor-\betak=⌊ℓ/2⌋−β, K=2kK=2^kK=2k, M=⌊N/K⌋M=\lfloor N/K\rfloorM=⌊N/K⌋, Q=⌊(2M+2k+3)/K⌋+1Q=\lfloor (2M+2k+3)/K\rfloor+1Q=⌊(2M+2k+3)/K⌋+1 and N′=QKN'=QKN′=QK. Assume

  • (recursion hypothesis) FMSpec pF iprog I N' C: calling pF multiplies modulo 2N′+12^{N'}+12N′+1 any two inputs in [0,2N′][0,2^{N'}][0,2N′] within cost CCC;
  • the parameter conditions β≤ℓ/2\beta\le\ell/2β≤ℓ/2, KM=NKM=NKM=N, M≥1M\ge1M≥1, 2M+2k+4≤N′≤N2M+2k+4\le N'\le N2M+2k+4≤N′≤N and ℓ≤N\ell\le Nℓ≤N;
  • ARG has aaa then bbb on top (over LAL_ALA) with 0≤a,b≤2N0\le a,b\le 2^N0≤a,b≤2N; PRM has NNN, RN has 2N2^N2N, RF has 2N+12^N+12N+1 on top.

Then

IRuns I iprog (fmMain pF pD pT pP) s (s[ARG:=(ab mod (2N+1))::LA]) (2kC+fmLevelCost(N)).\mathrm{IRuns}\ I\ \mathrm{iprog}\ (\mathrm{fmMain}\ pF\ pD\ pT\ pP)\ s\ \big(s[\mathrm{ARG} := (ab \bmod (2^N+1)) :: L_A]\big)\ \big(2^k C + \mathrm{fmLevelCost}(N)\big).IRuns I iprog (fmMain pF pD pT pP) s (s[ARG:=(abmod(2N+1))::LA]) (2kC+fmLevelCost(N)).

All other stacks are restored exactly.

fmMain folds the inputs, computes the parameters, splits each input into KKK pieces of MMM bits, twists them by powers of 2Q2^Q2Q, applies the forward FFT over Z/(2N′+1)\mathbb Z/(2^{N'}+1)Z/(2N′+1), multiplies pointwise by KKK recursive calls, applies the inverse FFT, untwists, lifts to signed coefficients, propagates carries and recombines. The bound fmLevelCost(N)=2 difCost+ditCost+O(KN′+ℓ2+N)\mathrm{fmLevelCost}(N) = 2\,\mathrm{difCost}+\mathrm{ditCost}+O(K N'+\ell^2+N)fmLevelCost(N)=2difCost+ditCost+O(KN′+ℓ2+N) is O(Nlog⁡N)O(N\log N)O(NlogN); solving the resulting recurrence gives the potential bound A NℓλA\,N\ell\lambdaANℓλ.

Formalization Note. States are IState NS records with item stacks G : Fin NS → List Item (head = top), input pointer ip and output out; s.upd X L replaces stack X by L; ints A is the list of integer items of A. The named stacks (ARG, PRM, RN, RF, DX, DL, …) are fixed indices in Fin 32. IRuns I iprog p s s' c means that p executes from s to exactly s' with some cost c′≤cc' \le cc′≤c, so costs are upper bounds; the program text iprog and input I are arbitrary unless constrained.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
