For a prime ppp and N≥1N\ge1N≥1,

∑n<Nn a power of pΛ(n)  ≤  log⁡N,\sum_{\substack{n<N\\ n\ \text{a power of }p}}\Lambda(n)\;\le\;\log N,n<Nn a power of p∑Λ(n)≤logN,

uniformly in ppp. Indeed the sum is (#{k≥1:pk<N})log⁡p≤log⁡pN⋅log⁡p=log⁡ ⁣(p⌊log⁡pN⌋)≤log⁡N(\#\{k\ge1:p^{k}<N\})\log p\le\log_p N\cdot\log p=\log\!\left(p^{\lfloor\log_p N\rfloor}\right)\le\log N(#{k≥1:pk<N})logp≤logpN⋅logp=log(p⌊logpN⌋)≤logN.

This is the per-prime input to the bound on the non-coprime part of the major-arc split: summing over the ω(q)\omega(q)ω(q) primes dividing qqq gives O(ω(q)log⁡N)O(\omega(q)\log N)O(ω(q)logN).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
