Suppose FFF and GGG are holomorphic on H={s∈C:Re⁡s>1/2}H=\{s\in\mathbb C:\operatorname{Re}s>1/2\}H={s∈C:Res>1/2} and both agree with ∑n≥1μ(n)n−s\sum_{n\ge1}\mu(n)n^{-s}∑n≥1μ(n)n−s for Re⁡s>1\operatorname{Re}s>1Res>1. Then

F∣H=G∣H,F(1)=0,F′(1)=1.F|_H=G|_H,\qquad F(1)=0,\qquad F'(1)=1.F∣H=G∣H,F(1)=0,F′(1)=1.

This determines both the continuation on its domain and its normalization at the pole of zeta. Values outside HHH are unconstrained. The theorem does not assert that such extensions exist.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
