D is the discriminant, or the part of the quadratic formula under the square root. The discriminant determines if a quadratic has a repeated solution, two real ones, or two complex ones. D=b2−4acD=b^2-4acD=b2−4ac. When it is plugged into −D4a-\dfrac{D}{4a}−4aD, you get c−b24ac-\dfrac{b^2}{4a}c−4ab2, which was in NivekUil's formula for the maximum (the yyy-coordinate of the vertex).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
