This is a dyadic L2L^2L2 maximal inequality for a continuous-time martingale sampled at dyadic times.

Let (Ω,F,P)(\Omega,\mathcal F,P)(Ω,F,P) be a finite probability space, let M:R→Ω→RM:\mathbb R\to\Omega\to\mathbb RM:R→Ω→R be a martingale relative to a filtration F\mathcal FF, and let T≥0T\ge0T≥0. For every n∈Nn\in\mathbb Nn∈N, let dyadicRunMax M T n be the running maximum along the dyadic partition of [0,T][0,T][0,T] at level nnn.

∫Ω∥dyadicRunMax⁡(M,T,n)(ω)∥2 dP(ω)≤4∫Ω∣MT(ω)∣2 dP(ω).\int_\Omega \bigl\|\operatorname{dyadicRunMax}(M,T,n)(\omega)\bigr\|^2\,dP(\omega)\le 4\int_\Omega |M_T(\omega)|^2\,dP(\omega).∫ΩdyadicRunMax(M,T,n)(ω)2dP(ω)≤4∫Ω∣MT(ω)∣2dP(ω).

The integrals are ENNReal lower integrals, and the norm is represented by the nonnegative norm coercion. The estimate is intended for dyadic maximal-control arguments.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
