Fix π1,…,πn−1∈S(n−1)\pi_1,\dots,\pi_{n-1}\in S(n-1)π1,…,πn−1∈S(n−1) with πk(n−1)=k\pi_k(n-1)=kπk(n−1)=k, and let fab(σ)=πb∘σ∘(n n−1)∘πa−1f_{ab}(\sigma)=\pi_b\circ\sigma\circ(n\ n-1)\circ\pi_a^{-1}fab(σ)=πb∘σ∘(n n−1)∘πa−1 for σ∈S(n−2)\sigma\in S(n-2)σ∈S(n−2) and a,b∈{1,…,n−1}a,b\in\{1,\dots,n-1\}a,b∈{1,…,n−1} (eq. (7)). Put Sab=fab(S(n−2))S_{ab}=f_{ab}(S(n-2))Sab=fab(S(n−2)). Then

  1. every τ∈S(n)\tau\in S(n)τ∈S(n) with τ(n)≠n\tau(n)\neq nτ(n)=n equals fab(σ)f_{ab}(\sigma)fab(σ) for exactly one triple (a,b,σ)(a,b,\sigma)(a,b,σ);
  2. fab(σ)(n)≠nf_{ab}(\sigma)(n)\neq nfab(σ)(n)=n for every triple;
  3. τ(n)=n\tau(n)=nτ(n)=n if and only if τ∈S(n−1)\tau\in S(n-1)τ∈S(n−1).

Together these say

S(n)=⋃a,b=1n−1Sab ∪ S(n−1),Sab∩Scd=∅ for ab≠cd,S(n)=\bigcup_{a,b=1}^{n-1}S_{ab}\,\cup\,S(n-1),\qquad S_{ab}\cap S_{cd}=\emptyset\ \text{for }ab\neq cd,S(n)=a,b=1⋃n−1Sab∪S(n−1),Sab∩Scd=∅ for ab=cd,

with the union disjoint from S(n−1)S(n-1)S(n−1), and that each fabf_{ab}fab is a bijection S(n−2)→SabS(n-2)\to S_{ab}S(n−2)→Sab. This partition is what lets Theorem 9(b) cover every partially transposed permutation operator outside C[S(n−1)]\mathbb C[S(n-1)]C[S(n−1)].

Formalization Note. n=m+2n=m+2n=m+2; labels are Fin (m+1), system nnn is Fin.last (m+1), and S(n−1)S(n-1)S(n−1) is the range of liftPerm (m+1) 1. Clause 1 is an ∃! over triples in Fin (m+1) × Fin (m+1) × Equiv.Perm (Fin m), which encodes covering, pairwise disjointness and injectivity of each fabf_{ab}fab at once.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
