Let M,aM,aM,a be real numbers and x=(v,r,θ,φ)x=(v,r,\theta,\varphi)x=(v,r,θ,φ) with Σ≠0\Sigma\neq0Σ=0, sin⁡θ≠0\sin\theta\neq0sinθ=0 (Σ=r2+a2cos⁡2θ\Sigma=r^2+a^2\cos^2\thetaΣ=r2+a2cos2θ). For the ingoing (Kerr's original, advanced) Kerr metric ging^{\rm in}gin of bundle Atlas_Kerr_InDefs, read off from Visser's line element ds2=−F (dv+asin⁡2θ dφ)2+2 (dv+asin⁡2θ dφ)(dr+asin⁡2θ dφ)+Σ (dθ2+sin⁡2θ dφ2)ds^2=-F\,(dv+a\sin^2\theta\,d\varphi)^2+2\,(dv+a\sin^2\theta\,d\varphi)(dr+a\sin^2\theta\,d\varphi)+\Sigma\,(d\theta^2+\sin^2\theta\,d\varphi^2)ds2=−F(dv+asin2θdφ)2+2(dv+asin2θdφ)(dr+asin2θdφ)+Σ(dθ2+sin2θdφ2), F=1−2Mr/ΣF=1-2Mr/\SigmaF=1−2Mr/Σ, with the half-Hessian convention (gvr=1g_{vr}=1gvr=1): in coordinates (v,r,θ,φ)=(x0,x1,x2,x3)(v,r,\theta,\varphi)=(x_0,x_1,x_2,x_3)(v,r,θ,φ)=(x0,x1,x2,x3) and with A=asin⁡2θA=a\sin^2\thetaA=asin2θ, gvv=−Fg_{vv}=-Fgvv=−F, gvr=grv=1g_{vr}=g_{rv}=1gvr=grv=1, gvφ=gφv=(1−F)Ag_{v\varphi}=g_{\varphi v}=(1-F)Agvφ=gφv=(1−F)A, grφ=gφr=Ag_{r\varphi}=g_{\varphi r}=Agrφ=gφr=A, gθθ=Σg_{\theta\theta}=\Sigmagθθ=Σ, gφφ=(2−F)A2+Σsin⁡2θg_{\varphi\varphi}=(2-F)A^2+\Sigma\sin^2\thetagφφ=(2−F)A2+Σsin2θ, all remaining entries 000; its candidate inverse g^in\hat g^{\rm in}g^in has g^vv=a2sin⁡2θ/Σ\hat g^{vv}=a^2\sin^2\theta/\Sigmag^vv=a2sin2θ/Σ, g^vr=g^rv=(r2+a2)/Σ\hat g^{vr}=\hat g^{rv}=(r^2+a^2)/\Sigmag^vr=g^rv=(r2+a2)/Σ, g^vφ=g^φv=g^rφ=g^φr=−a/Σ\hat g^{v\varphi}=\hat g^{\varphi v}=\hat g^{r\varphi}=\hat g^{\varphi r}=-a/\Sigmag^vφ=g^φv=g^rφ=g^φr=−a/Σ, g^rr=Δ/Σ\hat g^{rr}=\Delta/\Sigmag^rr=Δ/Σ with Δ=r2−2Mr+a2\Delta=r^2-2Mr+a^2Δ=r2−2Mr+a2, g^θθ=1/Σ\hat g^{\theta\theta}=1/\Sigmag^θθ=1/Σ, g^φφ=1/(Σsin⁡2θ)\hat g^{\varphi\varphi}=1/(\Sigma\sin^2\theta)g^φφ=1/(Σsin2θ), all remaining entries 000 (both matrices are symmetric; every symmetric counterpart is listed), write U=1/ΣU=1/\SigmaU=1/Σ and let Γbca\Gamma^a_{bc}Γbca be the coordinate Christoffel symbols of (gin,g^in)(g^{\rm in},\hat g^{\rm in})(gin,g^in) (indices 1=r1=r1=r, 2=θ2=\theta2=θ). Then the radial slice derivative of Γ221\Gamma^{1}_{22}Γ221 at xxx equals

∂rΓθθr(x)=−4Mr3U2+4MrU+2a2r2U2−a2U+2r4U2−3r2U.\partial_r\Gamma^{r}_{\theta\theta}(x)=-4Mr^3U^2+4MrU+2a^2r^2U^2-a^2U+2r^4U^2-3r^2U.∂rΓθθr(x)=−4Mr3U2+4MrU+2a2r2U2−a2U+2r4U2−3r2U.

The coordinate Ricci tensor is the one of the definition bundle Atlas_Core_Basic: with ∂if(x)\partial_i f(x)∂if(x) the derivative of the slice u↦f(x[xi:=u])u\mapsto f(x[x_i:=u])u↦f(x[xi:=u]) at u=xiu=x_iu=xi,

Γbca=12∑kg^ak(∂cgkb+∂bgkc−∂kgbc),Rbd=∑i(∂iΓbdi−∂dΓbii+∑j(ΓijiΓbdj−ΓdjiΓbij)).\Gamma^a_{bc}=\tfrac12\sum_k \hat g^{ak}\big(\partial_c g_{kb}+\partial_b g_{kc}-\partial_k g_{bc}\big),\qquad R_{bd}=\sum_i\Big(\partial_i\Gamma^i_{bd}-\partial_d\Gamma^i_{bi}+\sum_j\big(\Gamma^i_{ij}\Gamma^j_{bd}-\Gamma^i_{dj}\Gamma^j_{bi}\big)\Big).Γbca=21k∑g^ak(∂cgkb+∂bgkc−∂kgbc),Rbd=i∑(∂iΓbdi−∂dΓbii+j∑(ΓijiΓbdj−ΓdjiΓbij)).

Here g^\hat gg^ is the candidate inverse supplied with the metric; whether it is a genuine inverse is a separate obligation.

A generated closed-form entry of the ingoing-Kerr derivative table, promoted to its own node because it is shared by the component lemma R22R_{22}R22 and the table; it is a rational identity in r,sin⁡θ,cos⁡θ,1/Σr,\sin\theta,\cos\theta,1/\Sigmar,sinθ,cosθ,1/Σ.

Formalization Note Everything is coordinate-level on R4\mathbb R^4R4 (points are functions {0,1,2,3}→R\{0,1,2,3\}\to\mathbb R{0,1,2,3}→R): no manifold, chart gluing, periodicity of φ\varphiφ, horizon, causal or global statement is made. Partial derivatives are Mathlib's deriv of coordinate slices; the certificates' C∞C^\inftyC∞ obligations make every derivative used a genuine derivative. Units G=c=1G=c=1G=c=1, signature (−,+,+,+)(-,+,+,+)(−,+,+,+).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
