This declaration gives a coordinatewise weak-Hessian estimate and is listed as partially related to the Key moment-map Hessian bound, Theorem 2.5 of Letwin (arXiv:2607.24164v1).

Let nnn be a natural number, let u:Rn→Ru : \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{R}u:Rn→R be represented by EuclideanSpace ℝ (Fin n), and let GGG be a nonnegative real number represented by NNReal. Assume that the gradient map ∇u\nabla u∇u is GGG-Lipschitz with respect to the Euclidean norm. Then, for every point x∈EuclideanSpace⁡(R,Fin⁡(n))x \in \operatorname{EuclideanSpace}(\mathbb{R},\operatorname{Fin}(n))x∈EuclideanSpace(R,Fin(n)) and every pair of coordinate indices i,j∈Fin⁡(n)i,j \in \operatorname{Fin}(n)i,j∈Fin(n), the corresponding entry of hessianMatrix u x satisfies

∥hessianMatrix⁡(u,x,i,j)∥≤G.\left\|\operatorname{hessianMatrix}(u,x,i,j)\right\| \leq G.∥hessianMatrix(u,x,i,j)∥≤G.

Here the norm on the real-valued Hessian entry is the usual absolute-value norm, and GGG on the right-hand side denotes the coercion from NNReal to R\mathbb{R}R. This is a technical coordinatewise estimate that can be reused whenever a weak Hessian is defined through the derivative of a Lipschitz gradient.

Formalization Note The statement applies in finite-dimensional Euclidean space for every natural number nnn, including n=0n=0n=0, and does not assert classical C2C^2C2 regularity or differentiability everywhere. The Hessian coordinates are expressed using the Lean definition hessianMatrix.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
