Let λ\lambdaλ be a size vector (λi≥0\lambda^i\ge0λi≥0, ∑iλi=1\sum_i\lambda^i=1∑iλi=1). A strategy profile qqq is a Bayesian Wardrop equilibrium of Γ(λ)\Gamma(\lambda)Γ(λ) if and only if it is an optimal solution of the convex program

min⁡ Φ(q)s.t.q∈Q(λ).(OPT-Q)\min\ \Phi(q)\quad\text{s.t.}\quad q\in\mathcal Q(\lambda).\qquad(\text{OPT-}\mathcal Q)min Φ(q)s.t.q∈Q(λ).(OPT-Q)

Moreover, all BWE of Γ(λ)\Gamma(\lambda)Γ(λ) induce the same edge load: if q,q′q,q'q,q′ are BWE then we(t)w_e(t)we(t) computed from qqq equals we(t)w_e(t)we(t) computed from q′q'q′ for every edge eee and type profile ttt. This is the equilibrium edge load w∗(λ)w^*(\lambda)w∗(λ).

Because equilibrium costs depend on qqq only through the edge load, the uniqueness of w∗(λ)w^*(\lambda)w∗(λ) makes the equilibrium population costs Ci∗(λ)C^{i*}(\lambda)Ci∗(λ) independent of the chosen BWE.

Formalization Note Uniqueness of the edge load relies on the added full-support assumption on the prior.

/-- **Theorem 1** (Wu, Amin, Ozdaglar, Oper. Res. 69(1) 2021, p. 154). For a size vector `λ` in
the simplex, a strategy profile is a BWE of `Γ(λ)` if and only if it minimizes `Φ` over `𝒬(λ)`
(OPT-𝒬); and all BWE induce the same edge load `w^*(λ)`. -/

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
