This is the raw higher-order Leibniz rule for a continuous bilinear map.

Let E,F,G,HE,F,G,HE,F,G,H be real normed spaces, let B:F→(G→H)B:F\to(G\to H)B:F→(G→H) be a continuous bilinear map, and let f:E→Ff:E\to Ff:E→F and g:E→Gg:E\to Gg:E→G be C∞C^\inftyC∞. For m∈Nm\in\mathbb Nm∈N, directions h0,…,hm−1∈Eh_0,\ldots,h_{m-1}\in Eh0,…,hm−1∈E, and x∈Ex\in Ex∈E,

Dm(y↦B(f(y),g(y)))(x)[h0,…,hm−1]D^m\bigl(y\mapsto B(f(y),g(y))\bigr)(x)[h_0,\ldots,h_{m-1}]Dm(y↦B(f(y),g(y)))(x)[h0,…,hm−1] =∑q:Fin⁡(m)→{false,true}B(D∣q∣f(x)[hj:q(j)=true],Dm−∣q∣g(x)[hj:q(j)=false]).=\sum_{q:\operatorname{Fin}(m)\to\{\mathrm{false},\mathrm{true}\}} B\bigl(D^{|q|}f(x)[h_j:q(j)=\mathrm{true}],D^{m-|q|}g(x)[h_j:q(j)=\mathrm{false}]\bigr).=q:Fin(m)→{false,true}∑B(D∣q∣f(x)[hj:q(j)=true],Dm−∣q∣g(x)[hj:q(j)=false]).

The selected directions retain their inherited order, and every Boolean allocation appears with coefficient one. This is generic calculus support for expansions of quadratic and bilinear expressions.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
