Proved supporting lemma for the one-element left-orbit-complement branch of the finite E677 → E255 problem.

Let (α,⋄)(\alpha,\diamond)(α,⋄) be a finite magma satisfying E677: for all p,q∈αp,q\in\alphap,q∈α,

p=q⋄(p⋄((q⋄p)⋄q)).p=q\diamond\bigl(p\diamond((q\diamond p)\diamond q)\bigr).p=q⋄(p⋄((q⋄p)⋄q)).

Fix x∈αx\in\alphax∈α and let Ox={Lxn(x):n≥0}O_x=\{L_x^n(x):n\ge 0\}Ox={Lxn(x):n≥0} be its orbit under the left translation Lx(z)=x⋄zL_x(z)=x\diamond zLx(z)=x⋄z. Assume:

  1. xxx has no fixer, that is, no yyy satisfies y⋄x=xy\diamond x=xy⋄x=x;
  2. exactly one element AAA lies outside OxO_xOx;
  3. some c∈Oxc\in O_xc∈Ox collides with AAA under right translation by xxx: c⋄x=A⋄xc\diamond x=A\diamond xc⋄x=A⋄x.

Write d=A⋄xd=A\diamond xd=A⋄x, b=A⋄Ab=A\diamond Ab=A⋄A, u=c⋄du=c\diamond du=c⋄d, and v=A⋄uv=A\diamond uv=A⋄u. The lemma asserts the following structural packet.

  • d∈Oxd\in O_xd∈Ox, d≠xd\ne xd=x, d≠Ad\ne Ad=A.
  • b∈Oxb\in O_xb∈Ox, b≠xb\ne xb=x, b≠db\ne db=d, b≠Ab\ne Ab=A.
  • The outsider is fixed by LxL_xLx and satisfies A⋄d=AA\diamond d=AA⋄d=A and b⋄A=xb\diamond A=xb⋄A=x:
x⋄A=A,A⋄(A⋄x)=A,(A⋄A)⋄A=x.x\diamond A=A,\qquad A\diamond(A\diamond x)=A,\qquad (A\diamond A)\diamond A=x.x⋄A=A,A⋄(A⋄x)=A,(A⋄A)⋄A=x.
  • The collision transports along the backward recurrence: u⋄c=bu\diamond c=bu⋄c=b.
  • u∈Oxu\in O_xu∈Ox and u≠du\ne du=d.
  • v∈Oxv\in O_xv∈Ox, v≠Av\ne Av=A, v≠bv\ne bv=b.
  • If v=dv=dv=d, then u=xu=xu=x, and the two predecessor identities
x⋄(d⋄c)=d,d⋄(x⋄c)=xx\diamond(d\diamond c)=d,\qquad d\diamond(x\diamond c)=xx⋄(d⋄c)=d,d⋄(x⋄c)=x

hold; together with c⋄x=dc\diamond x=dc⋄x=d (the collision) and c⋄d=u=xc\diamond d=u=xc⋄d=u=x, this says LcL_cLc exchanges xxx and ddd.

The lemma isolates the points and separations that any argument about the cross-boundary collision must handle, and it splits the situation into the branch v=dv=dv=d and the branch v≠dv\ne dv=d. It does not conclude the open successor-propagation statement (x⋄c)⋄x=A⋄x(x\diamond c)\diamond x=A\diamond x(x⋄c)⋄x=A⋄x, and it does not produce a fixer. Its conclusions are sound constraints for finite-model or SAT searches inside this branch.

Formalization Note Orbit membership is the predicate InLeftOrbit, the no-fixer hypothesis is the negation of HasFixerAt, and uniqueness of the outsider is stated as: every element outside the orbit equals AAA. The derived points are written out as terms rather than introduced by let binders.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
