This technical lemma states that the variance clock is monotone in the number of included tiles.

Let GGG be a simple predictable integrand and let ci∈Rc_i\in\mathbb Rci∈R be arbitrary coefficient bounds. For natural numbers k≤lk\le lk≤l,

varClock⁡(G,c,k)≤varClock⁡(G,c,l).\operatorname{varClock}(G,c,k)\le \operatorname{varClock}(G,c,l).varClock(G,c,k)≤varClock(G,c,l).

The result relies on the nonnegativity of each summand ci2(τi+1−τi)c_i^2(\tau_{i+1}-\tau_i)ci2(τi+1−τi) and is used to compare partial variance budgets with the full budget.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
