Let KKK be a number field, ppp a prime, σ∈Aut⁡(K/Q)\sigma\in\operatorname{Aut}(K/\mathbb{Q})σ∈Aut(K/Q) and ε∈OK×\varepsilon\in\mathcal{O}_K^\timesε∈OK×. For a prime w∣pw\mid pw∣p let σw:Kσ−1w→∼Kw\sigma_w:K_{\sigma^{-1}w}\xrightarrow{\sim}K_wσw:Kσ−1w∼Kw be the isomorphism of completions induced by σ\sigmaσ, and assume ε\varepsilonε is a principal unit at σ−1w\sigma^{-1}wσ−1w, i.e. ∥ισ−1w(ε)−1∥<1\|\iota_{\sigma^{-1}w}(\varepsilon)-1\|<1∥ισ−1w(ε)−1∥<1. Then

log⁡pιw(σε)=σw(log⁡pισ−1w(ε)).\log_p\iota_w(\sigma\varepsilon)=\sigma_w\bigl(\log_p\iota_{\sigma^{-1}w}(\varepsilon)\bigr).logpιw(σε)=σw(logpισ−1w(ε)).

Thus the semilocal logarithm vector of a Galois conjugate is obtained from that of ε\varepsilonε by the Galois action on ∏v∣pKv\prod_{v\mid p}K_v∏v∣pKv: Λ(σε)=σ⋅Λ(ε)\Lambda(\sigma\varepsilon)=\sigma\cdot\Lambda(\varepsilon)Λ(σε)=σ⋅Λ(ε), and the Zp\mathbb{Z}_pZp-span of the logarithms of the (principal) units is a Zp[G]\mathbb{Z}_p[G]Zp[G]-module. Here σε\sigma\varepsilonσε is the image of ε\varepsilonε under the ring automorphism of OK\mathcal{O}_KOK induced by σ\sigmaσ.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
