Let m≥0m\ge0m≥0 be an integer and let α,β,k∈C\alpha,\beta,k\in\mathbb Cα,β,k∈C be arbitrary. For γ∈C\gamma\in\mathbb Cγ∈C put Pγ(X,Y)=Xm(γ+XY)+Ym(γˉ+XY)P_\gamma(X,Y)=X^m(\gamma+XY)+Y^m(\bar\gamma+XY)Pγ(X,Y)=Xm(γ+XY)+Ym(γˉ+XY) and let FγF_\gammaFγ be its bihomogenization of bidegree (m+1,m+1)(m+1,m+1)(m+1,m+1), so that Fγ((X,1),(Y,1))=Pγ(X,Y)F_\gamma\bigl((X,1),(Y,1)\bigr)=P_\gamma(X,Y)Fγ((X,1),(Y,1))=Pγ(X,Y): for x=(x0,x1)x=(x_0,x_1)x=(x0,x1) and y=(y0,y1)y=(y_0,y_1)y=(y0,y1) in C2\mathbb C^2C2,

Fγ(x,y)=γ x0mx1 y1m+1+x0m+1y0 y1m+γˉ x1m+1y0m y1+x0 x1m y0m+1.F_\gamma(x,y)=\gamma\,x_0^m x_1\,y_1^{m+1}+x_0^{m+1}y_0\,y_1^m+\bar\gamma\,x_1^{m+1}y_0^m\,y_1+x_0\,x_1^m\,y_0^{m+1}.Fγ(x,y)=γx0mx1y1m+1+x0m+1y0y1m+γˉx1m+1y0my1+x0x1my0m+1.

Let g∈GL2(C)g\in\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb C)g∈GL2(C) act on column vectors of C2\mathbb C^2C2, and let gˉ\bar ggˉ be the matrix with complex-conjugated entries. The cleared pullback of PβP_\betaPβ by ggg is the polynomial Pβg(X,Y)=Fβ(g (X,1)T, gˉ (Y,1)T)∈C[X,Y]P_\beta^{g}(X,Y)=F_\beta\bigl(g\,(X,1)^{\mathsf T},\ \bar g\,(Y,1)^{\mathsf T}\bigr)\in\mathbb C[X,Y]Pβg(X,Y)=Fβ(g(X,1)T, gˉ(Y,1)T)∈C[X,Y]. For ggg with rows (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) and (c,d)(c,d)(c,d) it equals, as a rational function, (cX+d)m+1(cˉY+dˉ)m+1Pβ(M(X),M‾(Y))(cX+d)^{m+1}(\bar cY+\bar d)^{m+1}P_\beta\bigl(M(X),\overline M(Y)\bigr)(cX+d)m+1(cˉY+dˉ)m+1Pβ(M(X),M(Y)), where M(X)=aX+bcX+dM(X)=\frac{aX+b}{cX+d}M(X)=cX+daX+b and M‾(Y)=aˉY+bˉcˉY+dˉ\overline M(Y)=\frac{\bar aY+\bar b}{\bar cY+\bar d}M(Y)=cˉY+dˉaˉY+bˉ.

Assume the polynomial identity Pβg=k PαP_\beta^{g}=k\,P_\alphaPβg=kPα in C[X,Y]\mathbb C[X,Y]C[X,Y]. Then for all x,y∈C2x,y\in\mathbb C^2x,y∈C2

Fβ(gx, gˉ y)=k Fα(x,y).F_\beta(gx,\ \bar g\,y)=k\,F_\alpha(x,y).Fβ(gx, gˉy)=kFα(x,y).

In the proof of Theorem 2 the note substitutes a Möbius map into PβP_\betaPβ, clears denominators and compares the result with PαP_\alphaPα. This lemma extends such an identity from the affine chart to all homogeneous coordinates, including the points with x1=0x_1=0x1=0 or y1=0y_1=0y1=0 that lie over the boundary of P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1. It is the algebraic step behind the claim that an equivalence of the spherical real loci carries VαV_\alphaVα onto VβV_\betaVβ.

Formalization Note: gˉ\bar ggˉ is the entrywise conjugate of ggg in GL (Fin 2) ℂ, ggg acts on Fin 2 → ℂ by matrix–vector multiplication, and the hypothesis is an equality in MvPolynomial (Fin 2) ℂ.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
