This statement gives the Markov–Chebyshev tail estimate associated with a Kolmogorov process.

Let Ω\OmegaΩ be a measurable space, let PPP be a probability measure on Ω\OmegaΩ, and let X:R→Ω→RX : \mathbb{R} \to \Omega \to \mathbb{R}X:R→Ω→R be a real-valued process. Let p,q∈Rp,q \in \mathbb{R}p,q∈R and M∈[0,∞)M \in [0,\infty)M∈[0,∞), and assume the process satisfies ProbabilityTheory.IsKolmogorovProcess X P p q M. For arbitrary times s,t∈Rs,t \in \mathbb{R}s,t∈R, let λ∈[0,∞]\lambda \in [0,\infty]λ∈[0,∞] satisfy:

  1. 0<λ0 < \lambda0<λ;
  2. λ≠∞\lambda \ne \inftyλ=∞.

Writing edist for the extended distance, the probability of an increment exceeding the threshold λ\lambdaλ is bounded by

P({ω∣λ≤edist⁡(X(s,ω),X(t,ω))})≤M edist⁡(s,t)qλp.P\bigl(\{\omega \mid \lambda \le \operatorname{edist}(X(s,\omega),X(t,\omega))\}\bigr) \le \frac{M\,\operatorname{edist}(s,t)^q}{\lambda^p}.P({ω∣λ≤edist(X(s,ω),X(t,ω))})≤λpMedist(s,t)q.

Here the right-hand side is interpreted in [0,∞][0,\infty][0,∞], with MMM coerced from [0,∞)[0,\infty)[0,∞) to ENNReal; the powers are extended-real powers. This is a per-pair increment tail estimate that can be reused in convergence-in-measure and summability arguments for continuous modifications of stochastic processes.

Formalization Note The measure-valued quantity and all arithmetic in the conclusion use ENNReal; the hypotheses require the threshold to be strictly positive and not equal to ⊤.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
