Let KKK be a number field and ppp a prime. The diagonal map

ι:OK×⟶U=∏℘∣pO℘×\iota : \mathcal{O}_K^\times \longrightarrow U = \prod_{\wp \mid p} \mathcal{O}_\wp^\timesι:OK×⟶U=℘∣p∏O℘×

from the global units into the semilocal units at ppp is injective.

This holds because there is at least one prime ℘\wp℘ above ppp and the completion map K→K℘K \to K_\wpK→K℘ is an injective field homomorphism.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
