Let λ∈(0,1)\lambda \in (0,1)λ∈(0,1) and let α,β\alpha, \betaα,β be the constant step sizes (4.2) of Momentum Value Computation,

α=21+1−λ2,β=1−1−λ21+1−λ2.\alpha = \frac{2}{1 + \sqrt{1-\lambda^2}}, \qquad \beta = \frac{1 - \sqrt{1-\lambda^2}}{1 + \sqrt{1-\lambda^2}}.α=1+1−λ22,β=1+1−λ21−1−λ2.

Then

α=1+β.\alpha = 1 + \beta .α=1+β.

This identity makes the coefficient 1−α+β1 - \alpha + \beta1−α+β of vsv_svs vanish in the expanded M-VC recursion, which is what turns the iteration into the linear recursion xs=Bπxs−1+bπx_s = B_\pi x_{s-1} + b_\pixs=Bπxs−1+bπ of Lemma B.1.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
