Kronecker unpacking inverts packing for balanced digits

Proved
IntMul.HvdH.kunpack_kpack

by xuanji · Oct 11, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

integer-multiplication

Let B>0B>0B>0 be even and let c=(c0,…,cn−1)c=(c_0,\dots,c_{n-1})c=(c0,…,cn−1) be integers with 2∣ci∣<B2|c_i|<B2∣ci∣<B. Then reading nnn balanced base-BBB digits from ∑iciBi\sum_ic_iB^i∑iciBi recovers ccc:

kunpackB(n,∑iciBi)=c.\mathrm{kunpack}_B\bigl(n,\textstyle\sum_i c_iB^i\bigr)=c.kunpackB(n,∑iciBi)=c.

This is the unpacking step (3) of Lemma 2.5 of Harvey–van der Hoeven (see IntMul_HvdH_KronMul).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
