A one-point face of the target ball is carried onto a one-point face

Proved
Plasticity.Faces.matchesFace_singleton

by scanstone · Oct 15, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

Let F ⁣:BX→BYF\colon B_X\to B_YF:BX→BY be a nonexpansive bijection of the unit balls of real normed spaces, and let {e}\{e\}{e} be a sphere face of BYB_YBY, that is, eee is an extreme point of BYB_YBY of norm one. Then MatchesFace F {e} holds: the preimage of eee is a single extreme point xxx of BXB_XBX of norm one, F(−x)=−eF(-x)=-eF(−x)=−e, and F(tx)=teF(tx)=teF(tx)=te for 0≤t≤10\le t\le10≤t≤1. This is the dimension-0 case of the face theorem (card Plasticity.Faces.matchesFace_of_finiteDimensional).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
