Let m≥1m\ge1m≥1 be an integer and α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ. Put hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t]h_\alpha(t)=-t(t^m+1)(\alpha t^m+\bar\alpha)\in\mathbb C[t]hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t] and let Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t))K_\alpha=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h_\alpha(t))Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t)), with www the class of WWW, so that w2=hα(t)w^2=h_\alpha(t)w2=hα(t); this is the function field of the double cover of the ttt-line in equation (7) of the note, written with w=t(tm+1)Yw=t(t^m+1)Yw=t(tm+1)Y. Let ΩKα/C\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}ΩKα/C be its module of Kähler differentials, with universal derivation ddd. For a point (t0,w0)∈C2(t_0,w_0)\in\mathbb C^2(t0,w0)∈C2 of the affine curve w2=hα(t)w^2=h_\alpha(t)w2=hα(t), that is, with w02=hα(t0)w_0^2=h_\alpha(t_0)w02=hα(t0), let O(t0,w0)⊂Kα\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}\subset K_\alphaO(t0,w0)⊂Kα be its local ring: the localization of C[t][W]/(W2−hα)\mathbb C[t][W]/(W^2-h_\alpha)C[t][W]/(W2−hα) at the maximal ideal of (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0), viewed inside KαK_\alphaKα.

For the conjugate parameter, KαˉK_{\bar\alpha}Kαˉ is built in the same way, with coordinate sss and root w′w'w′, where w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)=-s(s^m+1)(\bar\alpha s^m+\alpha)w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α). Since hαˉ(0)=0h_{\bar\alpha}(0)=0hαˉ(0)=0, the point (0,0)(0,0)(0,0) lies on the curve w′2=hαˉ(s)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)w′2=hαˉ(s); let O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\subset K_{\bar\alpha}O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ be its local ring there. Let Φ ⁣:Kα→Kαˉ\Phi\colon K_\alpha\to K_{\bar\alpha}Φ:Kα→Kαˉ be the isomorphism of C\mathbb CC-algebras with Φ(t)=1/s\Phi(t)=1/sΦ(t)=1/s and Φ(w)=w′ s−(m+1)\Phi(w)=w'\,s^{-(m+1)}Φ(w)=w′s−(m+1) (the chart at t=∞t=\inftyt=∞), and let Φ∗ ⁣:ΩKα/C→ΩKαˉ/C\Phi_\ast\colon\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}\to\Omega_{K_{\bar\alpha}/\mathbb C}Φ∗:ΩKα/C→ΩKαˉ/C be the induced map, Φ∗(g dk)=Φ(g) dΦ(k)\Phi_\ast(g\,dk)=\Phi(g)\,d\Phi(k)Φ∗(gdk)=Φ(g)dΦ(k).

A differential ω∈ΩKα/C\omega\in\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}ω∈ΩKα/C is regular at a point (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0) if f∈O(t0,w0)f\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}f∈O(t0,w0) whenever u∈O(t0,w0)u\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}u∈O(t0,w0) generates the maximal ideal of O(t0,w0)\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}O(t0,w0) and ω=f du\omega=f\,duω=fdu with f∈Kαf\in K_\alphaf∈Kα. It is regular at infinity if Φ∗ω\Phi_\ast\omegaΦ∗ω is regular, in the same sense, at the point (0,0)(0,0)(0,0) of w′2=hαˉ(s)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)w′2=hαˉ(s). It is holomorphic if it is regular at every point (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0) of w2=hα(t)w^2=h_\alpha(t)w2=hα(t) and at infinity. The holomorphic differentials form a complex vector subspace Hα⊆ΩKα/C\mathcal H_\alpha\subseteq\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}Hα⊆ΩKα/C.

Then, for every f∈Kαf\in K_\alphaf∈Kα,

f dt∈Hα  ⟺  f∈O(t0,w0) for every point with w02=hα(t0)≠0,f w∈O(t0,w0) for every point with w02=hα(t0)=0, andΦ(f)/w′3∈O(0,0)′.\begin{aligned} f\,dt\in\mathcal H_\alpha\iff{}& f\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}\ \text{for every point with }w_0^2=h_\alpha(t_0)\ne0,\\ & f\,w\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}\ \text{for every point with }w_0^2=h_\alpha(t_0)=0,\ \text{and}\\ & \Phi(f)/w'^{3}\in\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}. \end{aligned}fdt∈Hα⟺f∈O(t0,w0) for every point with w02=hα(t0)=0,fw∈O(t0,w0) for every point with w02=hα(t0)=0, andΦ(f)/w′3∈O(0,0)′.

This turns holomorphy of f dtf\,dtfdt, defined through uniformizers, into membership conditions on the coefficient fff in explicit local rings, at the finite points and at infinity. It is the criterion through which the differentials ti dt/wt^i\,dt/wtidt/w, 0≤i<m0\le i<m0≤i<m, are shown to be holomorphic, in the computation of the genus mmm in Lemma 4.

Formalization Note: the hypotheses m>0m>0m>0 and α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ are Fact instances; ∣α∣=1|\alpha|=1∣α∣=1 is not assumed. Holomorphy is defined through the explicit places above (the points (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0) and the place over t=∞t=\inftyt=∞), which the formalization shows to be all the places of KαK_\alphaKα.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
