Let QQQ be a finite word of integers, m≥0m\ge0m≥0, and SSS the letters of QQQ congruent to rrr modulo 2m2^m2m. If b∈Sb\in Sb∈S is the maximum or the minimum of SSS and a∈Sa\in Sa∈S occurs before bbb in QQQ, then

2b−a∉Qand3b−2a∉Q,2b-a\notin Q\quad\text{and}\quad 3b-2a\notin Q,2b−a∈/Qand3b−2a∈/Q,

i.e. (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) is an open pair. (Both continuations lie in the same residue class and beyond the extremum.) This is a structural source of open pairs in Ho-style constructions of 444-AP-free permutations of Z\mathbb{Z}Z (Erdős Problem 195).

Formalization note: treeLt is from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_tree; Safe, bitOne from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_defs; positions are List.idxOf, ν2\nu_2ν2 is padicValInt 2.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
