integer-multiplication

Let p≥0p\ge0p≥0, r,P≥1r,P\ge1r,P≥1 and e1,…,ed≥1e_1,\dots,e_d\ge1e1,…,ed≥1 with 2ei∣2r2^{e_i}\mid 2r2ei∣2r, and put T=r 2∑eiT=r\,2^{\sum e_i}T=r2∑ei. Assume

2 (2∑ei)2 r (2p)2<2P.2\,(2^{\sum e_i})^2\,r\,(2^p)^2<2^P.2(2∑ei)2r(2p)2<2P.

For Gaussian-integer arrays U,VU,VU,V on the box [0,2e1)×⋯×[0,2ed)×[0,r)[0,2^{e_1})\times\cdots\times[0,2^{e_d})\times[0,r)[0,2e1)×⋯×[0,2ed)×[0,r) with ∣U(x)∣,∣V(x)∣≤2p|U(x)|,|V(x)|\le 2^p∣U(x)∣,∣V(x)∣≤2p, define W=fermConvZ(U,V)W=\mathrm{fermConvZ}(U,V)W=fermConvZ(U,V) through four integer convolutions over the Fermat ring Z/(22rP+1)\mathbb Z/(2^{2rP}+1)Z/(22rP+1). Then fermConvRound\mathrm{fermConvRound}fermConvRound divides the real and imaginary parts of WWW by 2pT2^pT2pT, rounding towards zero. At every in-box index jjj the result ZjZ_jZj satisfies ∣Zj∣≤2p|Z_j|\le 2^p∣Zj∣≤2p and

∣Zj−2p (convC (2−pU) (2−pV))j∣≤2.\Bigl|Z_j-2^p\,(\mathrm{convC}\,(2^{-p}U)\,(2^{-p}V))_j\Bigr|\le\sqrt2.Zj−2p(convC(2−pU)(2−pV))j≤2.

This is exactly the convolution-oracle hypothesis of the fixed-point Bluestein reduction bluestein_fp with δ=2\delta=\sqrt2δ=2. With it, the DFT of Theorem 3.1 of Harvey–van der Hoeven can be computed using integer arithmetic modulo a Fermat number.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
