Let f,g:H→(−∞,+∞]f,g:H\to(-\infty,+\infty]f,g:H→(−∞,+∞] be proper closed convex functions on a real Hilbert space. Let γ>0\gamma>0γ>0, let zkz^kzk follow relaxed PRS with 0<λk≤10<\lambda_k\le10<λk≤1, and let z∗z^*z∗ be a fixed point of TPRST_{\rm PRS}TPRS. Suppose either ggg has a (1/β)(1/\beta)(1/β)-Lipschitz gradient and fff is μ\muμ-strongly convex, or fff has that gradient regularity and ggg is μ\muμ-strongly convex, with μ,β>0\mu,\beta>0μ,β>0. Define

C(λ)=(1−4λ3min⁡{γμ,βγ,1−λ})1/2,0≤λ≤1.C(\lambda)=\left(1-\frac{4\lambda}{3}\min\left\{\gamma\mu,\frac\beta\gamma,1-\lambda\right\}\right)^{1/2},\qquad 0\le\lambda\le1.C(λ)=(1−34λmin{γμ,γβ,1−λ})1/2,0≤λ≤1.

In each of the two cases, for all k≥0k\ge0k≥0,

∥zk+1−z∗∥≤C(λk)∥zk−z∗∥.\|z^{k+1}-z^*\|\le C(\lambda_k)\|z^k-z^*\|.∥zk+1−z∗∥≤C(λk)∥zk−z∗∥.

This is the paper's mixed-regularity linear contraction theorem, covering both readings of “respectively.”

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
