For every real constant A>0A>0A>0, there is a threshold NAN_ANA such that, for every natural number n≥NAn \ge N_An≥NA and every injective configuration p:Fin⁡(n)→R2p : \operatorname{Fin}(n) \to \mathbb R^2p:Fin(n)→R2 whose image has no three collinear points and no four cocircular points, let P=image⁡(p)P = \operatorname{image}(p)P=image(p). The number D(P)D(P)D(P) of distinct Euclidean distances determined by PPP satisfies

D(P)>An.D(P)>A n.D(P)>An.

The threshold may depend on AAA, while the conclusion must hold uniformly for every qualifying configuration of size nnn. Here D(P)D(P)D(P) counts each distance value once, even when multiple ordered pairs determine it. This is the superlinear-growth target of Erdős Problem 98 and remains an open problem in this Lean formalization.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
