Let u∈C∖Q‾u \in \mathbb{C} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u∈C∖Q and let s∈Q‾s \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}s∈Q be real with s2=uuˉs^2 = u\bar us2=uuˉ (so uˉ=s2/u\bar u = s^2/uuˉ=s2/u). With v=u/sv = u/sv=u/s, put G1=1/(v−1)+2/(v+1)G_1 = 1/(v - 1) + 2/(v + 1)G1=1/(v−1)+2/(v+1) and G2=1/(v−1)2+1/(v−1)−2/(v+1)2+2/(v+1)G_2 = 1/(v - 1)^2 + 1/(v - 1) - 2/(v + 1)^2 + 2/(v + 1)G2=1/(v−1)2+1/(v−1)−2/(v+1)2+2/(v+1), and let WWW be the Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-span of 1,u,uˉ,G1,G21, u, \bar u, G_1, G_21,u,uˉ,G1,G2 (poles at u=±su = \pm su=±s, each a double pole). Then there are no free x1,x2x_1, x_2x1,x2 and free y1,y2,y3y_1, y_2, y_3y1,y2,y3 with all six products in WWW and x2/x1=(αu+β)/(γu+δ)x_2/x_1 = (\alpha u + \beta)/(\gamma u + \delta)x2/x1=(αu+β)/(γu+δ), α,β,γ,δ∈Q‾\alpha, \beta, \gamma, \delta \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}α,β,γ,δ∈Q, αδ−βγ≠0\alpha\delta - \beta\gamma \neq 0αδ−βγ=0.

So, like R14's W1W_1W1, it is none of R11's real pencil spaces.

Proof. First, if ttt and ututut both lie in WWW, then t∈Q‾+Q‾uˉt \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar ut∈Q+Quˉ. Write t=c1+c2u+c3uˉ+c4G1+c5G2t = c_1 + c_2u + c_3\bar u + c_4G_1 + c_5G_2t=c1+c2u+c3uˉ+c4G1+c5G2, and ututut likewise, and multiply each by u(u2−s2)2u(u^2 - s^2)^2u(u2−s2)2, which turns them into polynomials of degree 666 in uuu (as in DiazModulus.cyclic_pair_space_excludes_squares_and_reciprocals). Then u⋅u(u2−s2)2t=u(u2−s2)2⋅utu \cdot u(u^2 - s^2)^2t = u(u^2 - s^2)^2 \cdot utu⋅u(u2−s2)2t=u(u2−s2)2⋅ut is an identity of degree 777 over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q at the transcendental uuu. Its u7u^7u7 coefficient gives c2=0c_2 = 0c2=0, and two combinations of the eight coefficient equations give 16s6c4=016s^6c_4 = 016s6c4=0 and 16s6c5=016s^6c_5 = 016s6c5=0. (In terms of poles: in WWW the leading polar coefficients at sss and −s-s−s are in the ratio 1:−21 : -21:−2 for double poles and 1:21 : 21:2 for simple ones, and multiplication by uuu changes the sign of that ratio.) Now let free xxx and yyy have xiyj∈Wx_iy_j \in Wxiyj∈W and x2(γu+δ)=x1(αu+β)x_2(\gamma u + \delta) = x_1(\alpha u + \beta)x2(γu+δ)=x1(αu+β) with αδ−βγ≠0\alpha\delta - \beta\gamma \neq 0αδ−βγ=0. Then c=αx1−γx2≠0c = \alpha x_1 - \gamma x_2 \neq 0c=αx1−γx2=0 by the freeness of xxx, the three numbers tj=cyjt_j = cy_jtj=cyj are free and lie in WWW, and utj=δx2yj−βx1yj∈Wut_j = \delta x_2y_j - \beta x_1y_j \in Wutj=δx2yj−βx1yj∈W. So three free numbers lie in the two-dimensional Q‾+Q‾uˉ\overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar uQ+Quˉ, which is impossible.
