This theorem identifies the relaxed energy away from the domain of a closed operator.

Let XXX be a real normed space, let HHH be a complete real Hilbert space, and let T:X⇢HT:X\dashrightarrow HT:X⇢H be closable. If x∈Xx\in Xx∈X does not belong to the domain of the closure T‾\overline TT, then the sequential relaxation of the pre-energy generated by TTT is infinite:

x∉dom⁡(T‾)⟹sequentialRelaxation⁡T(x)=⊤.x\notin\operatorname{dom}(\overline T) \quad\Longrightarrow\quad \operatorname{sequentialRelaxation}_{T}(x)=\top.x∈/dom(T)⟹sequentialRelaxationT(x)=⊤.

The value ⊤\top⊤ is the top element of ENNReal, namely +∞+\infty+∞. The declaration is sequentialRelaxation_ofLinearPMap_of_notMem_readable; it makes no assertion about points inside the closure domain.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
