A slightly more rigorous approach would be to start with sin⁡2xcos⁡x\frac{\sin 2x}{\cos x}cosxsin2x as an expression, and not start with an equality. Transform that via the double angle identity for sine into 2sin⁡xcos⁡xcos⁡x\frac{2\sin x \cos x}{\cos x}cosx2sinxcosx . Then, cancel the cosines (noting that we now have forced the issue of cos⁡x≠0\cos x \neq 0cosx=0 ) to get 2sin⁡x2\sin x2sinx . That's your RHS.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
