Let χ\chiχ be a primitive Dirichlet character modulo N≥1N\ge1N≥1, and let ε(χ)=τ(χ)/(iaN)\varepsilon(\chi)=\tau(\chi)/(i^{a}\sqrt N)ε(χ)=τ(χ)/(iaN) be the root number in the functional equation of its completed LLL-function, where a=0a=0a=0 for even χ\chiχ and a=1a=1a=1 for odd χ\chiχ. Then

∣ε(χ)∣=1.|\varepsilon(\chi)|=1.∣ε(χ)∣=1.

Formalization Note The root number is Mathlib's DirichletCharacter.rootNumber, which appears in DirichletCharacter.IsPrimitive.completedLFunction_one_sub.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
