For N≥2N\geq2N≥2, T>N+7T>N+7T>N+7, γ>0\gamma>0γ>0, σg2>0\sigma_g^2>0σg2>0, and ψ2≥0\psi^2\geq0ψ2≥0, let ET(κ)E_T(\kappa)ET(κ) be the closed-form out-of-sample utility mean in (IA2). The intensity

κE(T)=(T−N)(T−N−3)T(T−2)ψ2ψ2+(N−1)/T\kappa_E(T)=\frac{(T-N)(T-N-3)}{T(T-2)}\frac{\psi^2}{\psi^2+(N-1)/T}κE(T)=T(T−2)(T−N)(T−N−3)ψ2+(N−1)/Tψ2

lies in [0,1][0,1][0,1] and maximizes ETE_TET over every real intensity κ\kappaκ. In particular, it maximizes OOSU mean among the admissible shrinkage portfolios.

This result identifies the mean benchmark used in the robust-intensity ordering.

Formalization Note The OOSU mean and variance are the closed forms from Proposition IA.1 and Proposition 1. Their identification with the moments of the random portfolio utility is established by those results and is outside this closed-form mission.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
