Let m≥1m\ge 1m≥1 be an integer and α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ (that is, α\alphaα is not real), and let hα(t)=−t (tm+1) (αtm+αˉ)∈C[t]h_\alpha(t)=-t\,(t^m+1)\,(\alpha t^m+\bar\alpha)\in\mathbb C[t]hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t]. Let Lα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t))L_\alpha=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h_\alpha(t))Lα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t)), with www the class of WWW, regarded as a C[t]\mathbb C[t]C[t]-algebra through C[t]⊂C(t)\mathbb C[t]\subset\mathbb C(t)C[t]⊂C(t). Then for every x∈Lαx\in L_\alphax∈Lα,

x is integral over C[t]  ⟺  x=a(t)+b(t) w for some a,b∈C[t].x\ \text{is integral over}\ \mathbb C[t]\iff x=a(t)+b(t)\,w\ \text{for some}\ a,b\in\mathbb C[t].x is integral over C[t]⟺x=a(t)+b(t)w for some a,b∈C[t].

In other words, the integral closure of C[t]\mathbb C[t]C[t] in LαL_\alphaLα is C[t]+C[t] w\mathbb C[t]+\mathbb C[t]\,wC[t]+C[t]w.

LαL_\alphaLα is the function field of VαV_\alphaVα in the form of the double cover (7) from the proof of Lemma 4. The statement identifies the coordinate ring of the normalization of VαV_\alphaVα over the affine ttt-line, as part of the description of that normalization as a double cover of the ttt-line.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
