Let f:R→Rf:\mathbb R\to\mathbb Rf:R→R satisfy ∣f(x)∣=o(x)|f(x)|=o(\sqrt{x})∣f(x)∣=o(x) as x→∞x\to\inftyx→∞. Then

x+f(x)=x+o(1)(x→∞).\sqrt{x+f(x)}=\sqrt{x}+o(1)\qquad(x\to\infty).x+f(x)=x+o(1)(x→∞).

This estimate is used when lower-order corrections enter the square roots in the index bounds.

Formalization Note The paper prints f:R+→R+f:\mathbb R_+\to\mathbb R_+f:R+→R+, but its later application to h(γ)h(\gamma)h(γ) requires negative values. The real-valued version records that intended domain; ⋅\sqrt{\cdot}⋅ is Lean's total real square root, and the little-o premise controls the eventual radicand.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
