Let u∈C∖Q‾u \in \mathbb{C} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u∈C∖Q with ρ=uuˉ\rho = u\bar uρ=uuˉ algebraic, let a∈Q‾a \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}a∈Q, a≠0a \neq 0a=0, and let zzz be u/(u2−a)u/(u^2 - a)u/(u2−a) if aaˉ≠ρ2a\bar a \neq \rho^2aaˉ=ρ2, or u/(u2−a)2u/(u^2 - a)^2u/(u2−a)2 if aaˉ=ρ2a\bar a = \rho^2aaˉ=ρ2. Put H0=Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾uˉH_0 = \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar uH0=Q+Qu+Quˉ and W=H0+Q‾z+Q‾zˉW = H_0 + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}z + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar zW=H0+Qz+Qzˉ. Then WWW contains neither u2u^2u2 nor uˉ2\bar u^2uˉ2, nor 1/(u−b)1/(u - b)1/(u−b) for any b∈Q‾b \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}b∈Q, b≠0b \neq 0b=0.

These are the elements www for which, by Theorem B (DiazModulus.circle_point_extension_two_by_three_configuration_iff), a four-dimensional space H0+Q‾wH_0 + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}wH0+Qw carries a configuration; so no such space lies inside WWW.

Proof. Both cases have the shape z Q1(u2)=u R1(u2)z\,Q_1(u^2) = u\,R_1(u^2)zQ1(u2)=uR1(u2) and zˉ Q2(u2)=u R2(u2)\bar z\,Q_2(u^2) = u\,R_2(u^2)zˉQ2(u2)=uR2(u2) with Q1(0),Q2(0)≠0Q_1(0), Q_2(0) \neq 0Q1(0),Q2(0)=0: in the first, Q1=X−aQ_1 = X - aQ1=X−a, R1=1R_1 = 1R1=1, Q2=X−a′Q_2 = X - a'Q2=X−a′, R2=κR_2 = \kappaR2=κ with a′=ρ2/aˉa' = \rho^2/\bar aa′=ρ2/aˉ and κ=−ρ/aˉ\kappa = -\rho/\bar aκ=−ρ/aˉ; in the second, Q1=Q2=(X−a)2Q_1 = Q_2 = (X - a)^2Q1=Q2=(X−a)2, R1=1R_1 = 1R1=1, R2=κXR_2 = \kappa XR2=κX with κ=ρ/aˉ2\kappa = \rho/\bar a^2κ=ρ/aˉ2. Every element of WWW is c1+c2u+c3uˉ+c4z+c5zˉc_1 + c_2u + c_3\bar u + c_4z + c_5\bar zc1+c2u+c3uˉ+c4z+c5zˉ with ci∈Q‾c_i \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}ci∈Q, and uˉ=ρu−1\bar u = \rho u^{-1}uˉ=ρu−1. Clearing denominators turns a membership into A(u2)+u B(u2)=0A(u^2) + u\,B(u^2) = 0A(u2)+uB(u2)=0 with A,B∈Q‾[X]A, B \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}[X]A,B∈Q[X]. This forces A=B=0A = B = 0A=B=0: the same polynomial identity holds at −u-u−u, so adding gives A(u2)=0A(u^2) = 0A(u2)=0, and u2u^2u2 is transcendental. For u2u^2u2 the odd part is B=(X−c1)Q1Q2≠0B = (X - c_1)Q_1Q_2 \neq 0B=(X−c1)Q1Q2=0. For uˉ2=ρ2u−2\bar u^2 = \rho^2u^{-2}uˉ2=ρ2u−2 the even part is A=(ρ2−c1X)Q1Q2A = (\rho^2 - c_1X)Q_1Q_2A=(ρ2−c1X)Q1Q2, and A(0)=ρ2Q1(0)Q2(0)≠0A(0) = \rho^2Q_1(0)Q_2(0) \neq 0A(0)=ρ2Q1(0)Q2(0)=0. For 1/(u−b)=(u+b)/(u2−b2)1/(u - b) = (u + b)/(u^2 - b^2)1/(u−b)=(u+b)/(u2−b2) the odd part is B=Q1Q2 (b−c1(X−b2))B = Q_1Q_2\,(b - c_1(X - b^2))B=Q1Q2(b−c1(X−b2)), whose last factor takes the value b≠0b \neq 0b=0 at X=b2X = b^2X=b2. The hypothesis aaˉ≠ρ2a\bar a \neq \rho^2aaˉ=ρ2 of the first case is not used.

Novelty. Not asserted separately; elementary (parity in uuu).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
