This statement gives the local Lipschitz stability of mollification under an additive Haar measure.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure, and let mmm be an additive Haar measure on VVV. Let R,δ∈RR,\delta\in\mathbb RR,δ∈R satisfy 0<R0<R0<R. Let c∈[0,∞)c\in[0,\infty)c∈[0,∞), let g:V→Rg:V\to\mathbb Rg:V→R be continuous, and fix x∈Vx\in Vx∈V. Assume that ggg is ccc-Lipschitz on the ball of radius δ+2R\delta+2Rδ+2R centered at xxx.

Then the mollification mollify m R g is ccc-Lipschitz on the ball of radius δ\deltaδ centered at xxx:

LipschitzOnWith⁡(c,g,B(x,δ+2R))  ⟹  LipschitzOnWith⁡(c,mollify⁡(m,R,g),B(x,δ)).\operatorname{LipschitzOnWith}(c,g,B(x,\delta+2R)) \;\Longrightarrow\; \operatorname{LipschitzOnWith}(c,\operatorname{mollify}(m,R,g),B(x,\delta)).LipschitzOnWith(c,g,B(x,δ+2R))⟹LipschitzOnWith(c,mollify(m,R,g),B(x,δ)).

The result is a local recovery tool: the radius-RRR mollifier requires control only on the enlarged ball of radius δ+2R\delta+2Rδ+2R.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
