Let X>8.36X>8.36X>8.36 and let 0.97<ν<10.97<\nu<10.97<ν<1 be a root of k(ν)=1k(\nu)=1k(ν)=1, where kkk, G0G_0G0, G1G_1G1 are as in Dusart's (2.18), (2.32), (2.38) (see ExplicitPNT.dusart_k_root_exists). With m=2m=2m=2 put

Y=X(1−ν)2ν,T2=eνX,δ=2π (G0G1)1/4e−Y/2X1/2e−X,Y=\frac{X(1-\nu)^2}{\nu},\qquad T_2=e^{\nu X},\qquad \delta=\sqrt{\tfrac2\pi}\,(G_0G_1)^{1/4}e^{-Y/2}X^{1/2}e^{-X},Y=νX(1−ν)2,T2=eνX,δ=π2(G0G1)1/4e−Y/2X1/2e−X, q(y)=0.137log⁡y+0.443ylog⁡y log⁡(y/2π),G2=R2(δ)22(1+2πq(T2)),R2(δ)=((1+δ)3+1)2,q(y)=\frac{0.137\log y+0.443}{y\log y\,\log(y/2\pi)},\qquad G_2=\frac{R_2(\delta)}{2^2}\bigl(1+2\pi q(T_2)\bigr),\quad R_2(\delta)=\bigl((1+\delta)^3+1\bigr)^2,q(y)=ylogylog(y/2π)0.137logy+0.443,G2=22R2(δ)(1+2πq(T2)),R2(δ)=((1+δ)3+1)2,

where

G0G1=ν62ν2−1(1−log⁡(2π)−1/2Xν)(1−log⁡(2π)Xν).G_0G_1=\frac{\nu^6}{2\nu^2-1}\Bigl(1-\frac{\log(2\pi)-1/2}{X\nu}\Bigr)\Bigl(1-\frac{\log(2\pi)}{X\nu}\Bigr).G0G1=2ν2−1ν6(1−Xνlog(2π)−1/2)(1−Xνlog(2π)).

Then

G2<exp⁡(2.64 X1/2e−X).G_2<\exp\bigl(2.64\,X^{1/2}e^{-X}\bigr).G2<exp(2.64X1/2e−X).

This is Lemme 55 of Dusart's habilitation, display (2.43). Proof in the source: by Lemme 52, (G0G1)1/4<1(G_0G_1)^{1/4}<1(G0G1)1/4<1 and e−Y/2≤1e^{-Y/2}\le1e−Y/2≤1, so δ<2/πX1/2e−X\delta<\sqrt{2/\pi}X^{1/2}e^{-X}δ<2/πX1/2e−X, whence R2(δ)/4=(1+12δ(3+3δ+δ2))2<exp⁡(3.01122 δ)<exp⁡(2.41X1/2e−X)R_2(\delta)/4=(1+\tfrac12\delta(3+3\delta+\delta^2))^2<\exp(3.01122\,\delta)<\exp(2.41X^{1/2}e^{-X})R2(δ)/4=(1+21δ(3+3δ+δ2))2<exp(3.01122δ)<exp(2.41X1/2e−X). Since k(ν)=1k(\nu)=1k(ν)=1, T2=eνXT_2=e^{\nu X}T2=eνX coincides with (2.33), so 2π/T2=2π(G03/G1)1/4e−Y/2X1/2e−X2\pi/T_2=\sqrt{2\pi}(G_0^3/G_1)^{1/4}e^{-Y/2}X^{1/2}e^{-X}2π/T2=2π(G03/G1)1/4e−Y/2X1/2e−X and, using G03/G1<1G_0^3/G_1<1G03/G1<1 (2.41), 1+2πq(T2)<1+0.23X1/2e−X<exp⁡(0.23X1/2e−X)1+2\pi q(T_2)<1+0.23X^{1/2}e^{-X}<\exp(0.23X^{1/2}e^{-X})1+2πq(T2)<1+0.23X1/2e−X<exp(0.23X1/2e−X). Multiply.

Formalization note. The source states the lemma for X>2πX>2\piX>2π, ν>1/2\nu>1/\sqrt2ν>1/2 with k(ν)=1k(\nu)=1k(ν)=1, but its proof uses the bounds of Lemme 52, proved under X>8.36X>8.36X>8.36 and 0.97<ν<10.97<\nu<10.97<ν<1; those are the hypotheses here, and they are exactly the range produced by Lemme 51. (G0G1)1/4(G_0G_1)^{1/4}(G0G1)1/4 is two nested Real.sqrt.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
