Let v∈C∖Q‾v \in \mathbb{C} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}v∈C∖Q with vvˉ=1v\bar v = 1vvˉ=1. Let k≥0k \geq 0k≥0, let cj∈Q‾c_j \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}cj∈Q for all j∈Zj \in \mathbb{Z}j∈Z, and put z=∑j=−kkcjvjz = \sum_{j=-k}^{k} c_jv^jz=∑j=−kkcjvj and W=spanQ‾(1,v,vˉ,z,zˉ)W = \mathrm{span}_{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}}(1, v, \bar v, z, \bar z)W=spanQ(1,v,vˉ,z,zˉ). Suppose dim⁡Q‾W=5\dim_{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} W = 5dimQW=5, WWW contains no v2P(v)v^2P(v)v2P(v) with P∈Q‾[X]P \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}[X]P∈Q[X] non-zero, and WWW carries a 2×32 \times 32×3 configuration (free x0,x1x_0, x_1x0,x1 and free y0,y1,y2y_0, y_1, y_2y0,y1,y2 over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q with all six products xiyjx_iy_jxiyj in the space). Then WWW is in one of the two classes

  • (Q) W=spanQ‾(1,v,vˉ,vˉ2+ev2,βvˉ3+ζv2+ev3)W = \mathrm{span}_{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}}(1, v, \bar v, \bar v^2 + ev^2, \beta\bar v^3 + \zeta v^2 + ev^3)W=spanQ(1,v,vˉ,vˉ2+ev2,βvˉ3+ζv2+ev3) for some e,β,ζ∈Q‾e, \beta, \zeta \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}e,β,ζ∈Q with eeˉ=1e\bar e = 1eeˉ=1, ββˉ=1\beta\bar\beta = 1ββˉ=1 and ζ=−βe2ζˉ\zeta = -\beta e^2\bar\zetaζ=−βe2ζˉ;
  • (R) W=spanQ‾(1,v,vˉ,g,gˉ)W = \mathrm{span}_{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}}(1, v, \bar v, g, \bar g)W=spanQ(1,v,vˉ,g,gˉ) with g=G(v)+κ vG(v)‾g = G(v) + \kappa\,\overline{vG(v)}g=G(v)+κvG(v), for some κ∈Q‾\kappa \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}κ∈Q with κκˉ=1\kappa\bar\kappa = 1κκˉ=1 and some G∈Q‾[X]G \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}[X]G∈Q[X] with G(0)=0G(0) = 0G(0)=0 and deg⁡G≥2\deg G \geq 2degG≥2.

Proof. The shifted polynomial model (DiazModulus.laurent_conj_hull_shifted_polynomial_model) writes WWW as the image of HN+MH_N + MHN+M under Φ:F↦F(v)/vN\Phi : F \mapsto F(v)/v^NΦ:F↦F(v)/vN, with MMM two-sided. A configuration x⊗yx \otimes yx⊗y in WWW factors (DiazModulus.config_shifted_coprime_polynomial_factors) through coprime a0,a1a_0, a_1a0,a1 and free b0,b1,b2b_0, b_1, b_2b0,b1,b2 with aibj∈HN+Ma_ib_j \in H_N + Maibj∈HN+M and x1a0(v)=x0a1(v)x_1a_0(v) = x_0a_1(v)x1a0(v)=x0a1(v); as xxx is free the ratio is not constant, DiazModulus.two_by_three_configuration_ratio_degree_le_two bounds its degree by two, DiazModulus.coprime_pencil_of_degree_le_two_normal_form leaves four pencils, and DiazModulus.laurent_window_quadratic_pencils_carry_no_three_factors rules out (1,X2+αX)(1, X^2 + \alpha X)(1,X2+αX) and (X+β,X2+γX)(X + \beta, X^2 + \gamma X)(X+β,X2+γX). For (1,X)(1, X)(1,X), DiazModulus.laurent_window_degree_one_pencil_factor_space gives W=span(1,v,vˉ,g,vg)W = \mathrm{span}(1, v, \bar v, g, vg)W=span(1,v,vˉ,g,vg) with g=Φ(G0)g = \Phi(G_0)g=Φ(G0); conjugation-stability of WWW and the factor-space property give gˉ∈span(1,v,vg)\bar g \in \mathrm{span}(1, v, vg)gˉ∈span(1,v,vg), and DiazModulus.laurent_degree_one_conj_stable_space_real_pencil_normal_form gives class (R), as v2∉Wv^2 \notin Wv2∈/W excludes deg⁡G≤1\deg G \leq 1degG≤1. For (X,X2+β)(X, X^2 + \beta)(X,X2+β), DiazModulus.laurent_window_involution_pencil_normal_form puts MMM in the involution normal form, Φ\PhiΦ carries it to span(1,v,vˉ,vˉ2+ev2,βvˉ3+ζv2+ev3)\mathrm{span}(1, v, \bar v, \bar v^2 + ev^2, \beta\bar v^3 + \zeta v^2 + ev^3)span(1,v,vˉ,vˉ2+ev2,βvˉ3+ζv2+ev3), and DiazModulus.laurent_involution_space_conj_stable_constraints gives the constraints of class (Q).

Novelty. Not found in the sources read. It is most of the "only if" half of Theorem E (DiazModulus.laurent_conj_hull_two_by_three_configuration_iff); given its children, routine.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
