This is Theorem 6.2 of Balas's Disjunctive Programming (from Balas, Ceria and Cornuéjols [19]). Let P={x:A~x≥b~}P = \{x : \tilde A x \ge \tilde b\}P={x:A~x≥b~} be the LP relaxation of a mixed 0-1 program with 0-1 index set N′N'N′, the system containing the bound rows x≥0x \ge 0x≥0, xk≤1x_k \le 1xk≤1 (k∈N′k \in N'k∈N′). Let xˉ\bar xxˉ be the point to be cut off, RRR the subspace in which the cut is generated (the variables outside RRR being at their lower bound, xˉi=0\bar x_i = 0xˉi=0 for i∉Ri \notin Ri∈/R), and j∈N′∩Rj \in N' \cap Rj∈N′∩R the disjunction variable. The restricted problem (CGLP)jR(\mathrm{CGLP})^R_j(CGLP)jR uses the columns in RRR and the rows MRM_RMR, obtained by deleting bound rows xh≥0x_h \ge 0xh≥0, −xh≥−1-x_h \ge -1−xh≥−1 of variables h∉Rh \notin Rh∈/R (rows that are trivial in the subspace xh=0x_h = 0xh=0). Both CGLPs minimize αxˉ−β\alpha\bar x - \betaαxˉ−β under the normalization β∈{1,−1}\beta \in \{1,-1\}β∈{1,−1}.

If wR=(αR,β,uR,u0R,vR,v0R)w^R = (\alpha^R, \beta, u^R, u^R_0, v^R, v^R_0)wR=(αR,β,uR,u0R,vR,v0R) is optimal for (CGLP)jR(\mathrm{CGLP})^R_j(CGLP)jR, then wˉ\bar wwˉ defined by uˉ=uR\bar u = u^Ruˉ=uR, vˉ=vR\bar v = v^Rvˉ=vR on MRM_RMR and 000 on the other rows, uˉ0=u0R\bar u_0 = u^R_0uˉ0=u0R, vˉ0=v0R\bar v_0 = v^R_0vˉ0=v0R, the multipliers of the lower-bound rows xi≥0x_i \ge 0xi≥0, i∉Ri \notin Ri∈/R,

uˉm+i=max⁡{0,αi2−αi1},vˉm+i=max⁡{0,αi1−αi2}(αi1=uRA~iR, αi2=vRA~iR),\bar u_{m+i} = \max\{0, \alpha^2_i - \alpha^1_i\}, \qquad \bar v_{m+i} = \max\{0, \alpha^1_i - \alpha^2_i\} \qquad (\alpha^1_i = u^R\tilde A^R_i,\ \alpha^2_i = v^R \tilde A^R_i),uˉm+i=max{0,αi2−αi1},vˉm+i=max{0,αi1−αi2}(αi1=uRA~iR, αi2=vRA~iR),

and αˉi=αiR\bar\alpha_i = \alpha^R_iαˉi=αiR (i∈Ri \in Ri∈R), αˉi=αi1+uˉm+i=max⁡{αi1,αi2}\bar\alpha_i = \alpha^1_i + \bar u_{m+i} = \max\{\alpha^1_i, \alpha^2_i\}αˉi=αi1+uˉm+i=max{αi1,αi2} (i∉Ri \notin Ri∈/R), is a feasible and optimal solution of (CGLP)j(\mathrm{CGLP})_j(CGLP)j.

Formalization Note. The retired version (Open) was false: it copied uR,vRu^R, v^RuR,vR on every row although the restricted problem leaves their values outside MRM_RMR unconstrained, and it put no relation between xˉ\bar xxˉ, RRR, MRM_RMR and jjj; it also lacked the bound rows and the normalization, so its optimality clause could only hold with optimal value 000. The new statement: (i) sets uˉ=vˉ=0\bar u = \bar v = 0uˉ=vˉ=0 on rows outside MRM_RMR; (ii) assumes xˉi=0\bar x_i = 0xˉi=0 for i∉Ri \notin Ri∈/R (variables outside the subspace at their lower bound, w.l.o.g. after complementing, as in [19]), j∈R∩N′j \in R \cap N'j∈R∩N′, and that the rows deleted from MRM_RMR are bound rows of variables h∉Rh \notin Rh∈/R; (iii) Throughout Chapter 6 the LP relaxation is P={x:A~x≥b~}P = \{x : \tilde A x \ge \tilde b\}P={x:A~x≥b~} with the inequalities x≥0x \ge 0x≥0 and xj≤1x_j \le 1xj≤1 (j∈N′j \in N'j∈N′) included in A~x≥b~\tilde A x \ge \tilde bA~x≥b~. This is now the explicit hypothesis HasBoundRows Atil btil N' (the system contains the rows xk≥0x_k \ge 0xk≥0 for every kkk and −xj≥−1-x_j \ge -1−xj≥−1 for every j∈N′j \in N'j∈N′); it is satisfiable with nonempty PPP. (iv) uses the normalization β∈{1,−1}\beta \in \{1,-1\}β∈{1,−1} of [19] (normalization (i)), under which Balas states that the lifted cut is exactly the one the full CGLP produces; the CGLP system IsCGLPFeasible itself has no normalization. The lower-bound rows carrying uˉm+i,vˉm+i\bar u_{m+i}, \bar v_{m+i}uˉm+i,vˉm+i are represented, as before, by fresh unit rows (AtilExt, BtilExt).

/-- Theorem 6.2 (Balas, *Disjunctive Programming*, Springer 2018, §6.4, p. 84, from [19]): let
`P = {x : Ãx ≥ b̃}` be the LP relaxation of a mixed 0-1 program with 0-1 index set `N'`, the bound
rows `x ≥ 0`, `x_k ≤ 1` (`k ∈ N'`) being rows of `Ãx ≥ b̃` (`HasBoundRows`), let `x̄` be the
point to be cut off and `R` the subspace of variables in which the cut is generated, the
variables outside `R` being at their lower bound (`x̄_i = 0`, `i ∉ R`) and the disjunction
variable `j ∈ N'` lying in `R`. The reduced problem `(CGLP)^R_j` uses the columns `R` and the rows
`M_R`, obtained by deleting (some of) the bound rows `x_h ≥ 0`, `-x_h ≥ -1` of the variables
`h ∉ R` (which are trivial in the subspace `x_h = 0`).
`(CGLP)` is normalized by `β ∈ {1,-1}` (normalization (i) of [19]) and minimizes `αx̄ − β`.
If `w^R = (α^R, β, u^R, u^R_0, v^R, v^R_0)` is optimal for `(CGLP)^R_j`, then `w̄` with
`ū = u^R` on `M_R`, `ū = 0` on the other rows, `ū₀ = u^R_0`, `v̄₀ = v^R_0`, new multipliers
`ū_{m+i} = max{0, α²_i − α¹_i}`, `v̄_{m+i} = max{0, α¹_i − α²_i}` on the lower-bound rows `x_i ≥ 0`
of the variables `i ∉ R` (`α¹_i = u^R Ã^R_i`, `α²_i = v^R Ã^R_i`), `ᾱ_i = α^R_i` (`i ∈ R`) and
`ᾱ_i = α¹_i + ū_{m+i}` (`i ∉ R`) is feasible and optimal for `(CGLP)_j`. The lower-bound rows
used by `w̄` are represented as fresh unit rows (`AtilExt`, `BtilExt`).
Corrected: the retired version let `u^R, v^R` keep arbitrary values on rows outside `M_R`, let
`M_R`, `R` and `x̄` be unrelated to each other and `j ∉ R`, had no bound rows and no
normalization, which made it false (and its optimality clause degenerate). -/
