This is the algebraic gate of the proof of Theorem 4.5 of RR-6968: a strong ε\varepsilonε-interleaving above a level α\alphaα between two tame 000-dimensional persistence modules yields the multi-bijection between their 000-th persistence diagrams with the matching guarantees (i)–(iv).

Let XXX and YYY be two decreasing filtrations of stages over R\mathbb{R}R with the same-stage component relations, each a finite-type module (pointwise finiteness of component classes, a finite critical set with rigid class structure on critical-free windows, and eventual emptiness). Write rXr_XrX and rYr_YrY for their 000-th rank functions and DX=mult⁡(rX)D_X = \operatorname{mult}(r_X)DX=mult(rX), DY=mult⁡(rY)D_Y = \operatorname{mult}(r_Y)DY=mult(rY) for the associated persistence diagrams. Suppose the two modules are strongly ε\varepsilonε-interleaved above α\alphaα for some ε≥0\varepsilon \ge 0ε≥0: there are component-class maps φβ:Xβ→Yβ−ε\varphi_\beta : X^\beta \to Y^{\beta-\varepsilon}φβ:Xβ→Yβ−ε and ψβ:Yβ→Xβ−ε\psi_\beta : Y^\beta \to X^{\beta-\varepsilon}ψβ:Yβ→Xβ−ε for β≥α\beta \ge \alphaβ≥α commuting with the coarsening maps (naturality) and composing to the two-step coarsening (φβ−ε∘ψβ\varphi_{\beta-\varepsilon} \circ \psi_\betaφβ−ε∘ψβ and its mirror).

Then there is a bijection γ\gammaγ between all copies of DXD_XDX and all copies of DYD_YDY such that:

  1. every copy of a point of QαNEQ^{NE}_\alphaQαNE is mapped ε\varepsilonε-closely in both coordinates, in both directions (assertions (i), (ii));
  2. every copy of a point of QαSEQ^{SE}_\alphaQαSE is mapped ε\varepsilonε-closely in the birth coordinate, in both directions (assertions (iii), (iv)).

This is the module-level statement of the matching half of Theorem 4.5: the geometric half (the interleaving of the superlevel and Rips filtrations of the sampled data) is published separately as theorem_4_5_interleaving_corrected, and the final assembly from demand routings as theorem_4_5_matching_assembly. The present gate composes the routing of demanding copies (the demand-routing child) with that assembly.

Formalization Note The conclusion is stated on Copies, the copy type of a diagram (off-diagonal copies plus diagonal slots); SatisfiesIIV is the four-clause guarantee. All structure enters through FiltrationLaw, IsTameModule, and StrongInterleavingAbove as defined in PersistClust_Count_MatchingCensus.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
