Let P1\mathbb P^1P1 be the complex projective line, the set of lines through the origin of C2\mathbb C^2C2, with homogeneous coordinates [x0:x1][x_0:x_1][x0:x1]. Under the usual identification of [z:1][z:1][z:1] with z∈Cz\in\mathbb Cz∈C and of [1:0][1:0][1:0] with ∞\infty∞, the point [1:w][1:w][1:w] is 1/w1/w1/w (and ∞\infty∞ when w=0w=0w=0). Consider the chart of P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1 near (X,Y)=(∞,∞)(X,Y)=(\infty,\infty)(X,Y)=(∞,∞), ϕ3 ⁣:C2→P1×P1\phi_3\colon\mathbb C^2\to\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1ϕ3:C2→P1×P1, ϕ3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v])\phi_3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v])ϕ3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v]).

Then ϕ3\phi_3ϕ3 is injective: for all u,v,u′,v′∈Cu,v,u',v'\in\mathbb Cu,v,u′,v′∈C,

([1:u],[1:v])=([1:u′],[1:v′]) ⟹ (u,v)=(u′,v′).\bigl([1:u],[1:v]\bigr)=\bigl([1:u'],[1:v']\bigr)\ \Longrightarrow\ (u,v)=(u',v').([1:u],[1:v])=([1:u′],[1:v′]) ⟹ (u,v)=(u′,v′).

This is one of the four standard charts ϕ0(X,Y)=([X:1],[Y:1])\phi_0(X,Y)=([X:1],[Y:1])ϕ0(X,Y)=([X:1],[Y:1]), ϕ1(u,Y)=([1:u],[Y:1])\phi_1(u,Y)=([1:u],[Y:1])ϕ1(u,Y)=([1:u],[Y:1]), ϕ2(v,X)=([X:1],[1:v])\phi_2(v,X)=([X:1],[1:v])ϕ2(v,X)=([X:1],[1:v]) and ϕ3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v])\phi_3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v])ϕ3(u,v)=([1:u],[1:v]) of P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1, in which VαV_\alphaVα, the closure of the curve (6) in P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1, is described; the note introduces VαV_\alphaVα before Lemma 4. Injectivity makes the chart a coordinate system on its image.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
