This formalizes the density description of a continuous convex tilt.

Let VVV be a real inner-product normed space with Borel measurable structure, let ν\nuν be a probability measure, let mmm be a measure, and let W:V→RW:V\to\mathbb RW:V→R. Assume:

  1. ν=m.tilted(−W)\nu=m.\mathrm{tilted}(-W)ν=m.tilted(−W);
  2. WWW is continuous;
  3. WWW is convex on all of VVV.

Then ν\nuν is a Borell density with respect to mmm whose density is

x⟼e−W(x)∫Ve−W(y) dm(y).x\longmapsto \frac{e^{-W(x)}}{\int_V e^{-W(y)}\,dm(y)}.x⟼∫Ve−W(y)dm(y)e−W(x).

In particular, the density is measurable, nonnegative, upper semicontinuous, and log-concave. This is the density-theoretic interface between tilted measures and log-concave laws.
