This states strict convexity of a moment potential under a compact-target push-forward hypothesis.

Let EEE be a nontrivial finite-dimensional real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure. Let u:E→Ru:E\to\mathbb Ru:E→R be Lipschitz and convex, and assume

∫Ee−u(x) dvol⁡(x)=1.\int_E e^{-u(x)}\,d\operatorname{vol}(x)=1.∫Ee−u(x)dvol(x)=1.

Let K⊆EK\subseteq EK⊆E be compact, convex, and nonempty. Let V:E→RV:E\to\mathbb RV:E→R be continuous. Assume that the push-forward of the tilted volume measure by ∇u\nabla u∇u equals the volume measure with density 1K(p)ofReal⁡(e−V(p))1_K(p)\operatorname{ofReal}(e^{-V(p)})1K(p)ofReal(e−V(p)). Then

u is strictly convex on E.u\text{ is strictly convex on }E.u is strictly convex on E.

The result packages the contact-set argument into a global strict-convexity conclusion. It does not assert differentiability.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
