This auxiliary lemma identifies a local scalar derivative of a logarithmic exponential integral.

Let n∈Nn\in\mathbb Nn∈N, E=RnE=\mathbb R^nE=Rn (EuclideanSpace ℝ (Fin n)), μ\muμ a probability measure on EEE, and f:E→Rf:E\to\mathbb Rf:E→R measurable. Let G(x)=(f(x),x)G(x)=(f(x),x)G(x)=(f(x),x) in the Euclidean space indexed by Option⁡(Fin⁡n)\operatorname{Option}(\operatorname{Fin}n)Option(Finn), and put Γ=G∗μ\Gamma=G_*\muΓ=G∗μ (Measure.map). Assume r>0r>0r>0 and y↦er∥y∥∈L1(Γ)y\mapsto e^{r\|y\|}\in L^1(\Gamma)y↦er∥y∥∈L1(Γ).

For every z∈Ez\in Ez∈E with ∥z∥<r\|z\|<r∥z∥<r, the real function w↦log⁡∫ewf(x)+⟨z,x⟩ dμ(x)w\mapsto\log\int e^{wf(x)+\langle z,x\rangle}\,d\mu(x)w↦log∫ewf(x)+⟨z,x⟩dμ(x) has derivative at w=0w=0w=0 equal to the tilted average Ff(z)F_f(z)Ff(z) (tiltAverage):

ddw∣w=0log⁡(∫ewf(x)+⟨z,x⟩ dμ(x))=Ff(z),Ff(z)=∫e⟨z,x⟩f(x) dμ(x)∫e⟨z,x⟩ dμ(x).\left.\frac{d}{dw}\right|_{w=0}\log\left(\int e^{wf(x)+\langle z,x\rangle}\,d\mu(x)\right) =F_f(z),\qquad F_f(z)=\frac{\int e^{\langle z,x\rangle}f(x)\,d\mu(x)}{\int e^{\langle z,x\rangle}\,d\mu(x)}.dwdw=0log(∫ewf(x)+⟨z,x⟩dμ(x))=Ff(z),Ff(z)=∫e⟨z,x⟩dμ(x)∫e⟨z,x⟩f(x)dμ(x).

The formal conclusion is HasDerivAt, so it includes existence of the derivative. This is a local derivative interface under a graph-law exponential norm moment.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
