This theorem bounds the variance clock of tiles contained in an interval.

Let HHH be a simple predictable integrand with partition times, and let a≤ba\le ba≤b. Define the per-tile bound to be CCC when the tile lies inside (a,b](a,b](a,b], meaning a≤τja\le\tau_ja≤τj and τj+1≤b\tau_{j+1}\le bτj+1≤b, and 000 otherwise. Then

varClock⁡ ⁣(H, j↦{C,a≤τj and τj+1≤b,0,otherwise, ⁣,N)≤C2(b−a).\operatorname{varClock}\!\left(H,\,j\mapsto \begin{cases}C,&a\le\tau_j\text{ and }\tau_{j+1}\le b,\\0,&\text{otherwise,} \end{cases}\!,N\right) \le C^2(b-a).varClock(H,j↦{C,0,a≤τj and τj+1≤b,otherwise,,N)≤C2(b−a).

This estimate is the deterministic localization step behind moment bounds for integrands restricted to (a,b](a,b](a,b].

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
