This proves differentiation under the integral sign for translated test functions.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure, let mmm be a measure on VVV, and let h:V→Rh:V\to\mathbb Rh:V→R be locally integrable with respect to mmm. Let ϕ:V→R\phi:V\to\mathbb Rϕ:V→R be smooth and compactly supported. For v∈Vv\in Vv∈V and t∈Rt\in\mathbb Rt∈R, define

F(s)=∫h(x)ϕ(x−sv) dm(x).F(s)=\int h(x)\phi(x-sv)\,dm(x).F(s)=∫h(x)ϕ(x−sv)dm(x).

Then FFF has derivative at ttt equal to

F′(t)=−∫h(x)Dϕ(x−tv)v dm(x).F'(t)=-\int h(x)D\phi(x-tv)v\,dm(x).F′(t)=−∫h(x)Dϕ(x−tv)vdm(x).

Equivalently,

HasDerivAt⁡ ⁣(s↦∫h(x)ϕ(x−sv) dm(x),−∫h(x)Dϕ(x−tv)v dm(x),t).\operatorname{HasDerivAt}\!\left(s\mapsto\int h(x)\phi(x-sv)\,dm(x), -\int h(x)D\phi(x-tv)v\,dm(x),t\right).HasDerivAt(s↦∫h(x)ϕ(x−sv)dm(x),−∫h(x)Dϕ(x−tv)vdm(x),t).

This is a technical differentiation lemma used to convert a weak derivative condition into translation identities.

Formalization Note The declaration does not assume that mmm is an additive Haar measure.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
