This is the global squared extended-norm contraction estimate for a normalized mollifier.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space, let mmm be an additive Haar measure, let EEE be a normed real vector space, and let φ\varphiφ be a smooth bump centered at 000. If f:V→Ef:V\to Ef:V→E is almost everywhere strongly measurable, then

∫V∥(φnormed∗f)(x)∥e2 dm(x)≤∫V∥f(x)∥e2 dm(x).\int_V\|(\varphi_{\mathrm{normed}}\ast f)(x)\|_e^2\,dm(x) \le \int_V\|f(x)\|_e^2\,dm(x).∫V∥(φnormed∗f)(x)∥e2dm(x)≤∫V∥f(x)∥e2dm(x).

Both integrals are lower integrals with values in [0,∞][0,\infty][0,∞] (ENNReal). This is the measure-theoretic L2L^2L2 contraction property used in mollification arguments.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
