This is an invariance principle for optimal extended-energy Poincaré constants.

Let μ\muμ and μ′\mu'μ′ be probability measures on measurable spaces α\alphaα and β\betaβ. Let energy and energy' be extended-valued energy functionals on the corresponding real L2L^2L2 spaces, and let e:L2(μ′)≃L2(μ)e:L^2(\mu')\simeq L^2(\mu)e:L2(μ′)≃L2(μ) be a real linear isometric equivalence. Assume that for every fff, variance is preserved:

Var⁡μ(ef)=Var⁡μ′(f),\operatorname{Var}_{\mu}(ef)=\operatorname{Var}_{\mu'}(f),Varμ(ef)=Varμ′(f),

and that the energies intertwine:

energy′(f)=energy(ef).\mathrm{energy}'(f)=\mathrm{energy}(ef).energy′(f)=energy(ef).

Then their optimal Poincaré constants are equal:

CP(μ,energy)=CP(μ′,energy′).C_P(\mu,\mathrm{energy})=C_P(\mu',\mathrm{energy}').CP(μ,energy)=CP(μ′,energy′).

The functionals may take the value ∞\infty∞; the statement compares exactly the finite-energy domains and does not assume closedness, quadraticity, or a Markov property.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
