This auxiliary lemma shows convergence of covariance operators from support and moment hypotheses.

Let EEE be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure. Let (λk)(λ_k)(λk) and μμμ be probability measures on EEE, and assume Isotropic μ. Fix R∈RR\in\mathbb RR∈R. Suppose:

  1. every λkλ_kλk gives measure zero to the complement of the closed ball B‾(0,R)\overline B(0,R)B(0,R);
  2. for every degree d≤4d\le 4d≤4 and every family v:Fin⁡(d)→Ev:\operatorname{Fin}(d)\to Ev:Fin(d)→E, the mixed moments of λkλ_kλk converge to those of μμμ:
∫E∏i⟨vi,x⟩ dλk(x)⟶∫E∏i⟨vi,x⟩ dμ(x).\int_E\prod_i\langle v_i,x\rangle\,dλ_k(x) \longrightarrow \int_E\prod_i\langle v_i,x\rangle\,dμ(x).∫Ei∏⟨vi,x⟩dλk(x)⟶∫Ei∏⟨vi,x⟩dμ(x).

Then the covariance operators converge to the identity operator:

Covariance.operator⁡(λk)⟶I\operatorname{Covariance.operator}(λ_k)\longrightarrow ICovariance.operator(λk)⟶I

in the operator topology.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
