This auxiliary lemma constructs an asymptotically identity whitening sequence.

Let EEE be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space, and let Ck:E→EC_k:E\to ECk:E→E be continuous linear maps. Assume each CkC_kCk is positive and that Ck→IC_k\to ICk→I in the operator topology. Then there exists a sequence of continuous linear equivalences Lk:E≃LEL_k:E\simeq_L ELk:E≃LE such that:

  1. Lk→IL_k\to ILk→I in the operator topology;
  2. for all sufficiently large kkk, LkL_kLk is self-adjoint and satisfies
Lk Ck Lk=I.L_k\,C_k\,L_k=I.LkCkLk=I.

The statement provides the whitening operators used in the approximation construction.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
