This formalizes the support-side geometric ingredient associated with Lemma 16 of Cordero–Erausquin–Klartag, Moment measures (arXiv:1304.0630v1), cited there as an alternative formulation.

Let EEE be a real inner-product normed additive group, let μ\muμ be a probability measure on EEE, and let x0∈Ex_0\in Ex0∈E lie in the interior of the convex hull of the support of μ\muμ. For every nonzero direction u∈Eu\in Eu∈E, there exists a support point yyy such that

y∈supp⁡(μ)and0<⟨u,y−x0⟩.y\in\operatorname{supp}(\mu)\quad\text{and}\quad 0<\langle u,y-x_0\rangle.y∈supp(μ)and0<⟨u,y−x0⟩.

This is a basic separation fact used to obtain positive-mass halfspace information around an interior point.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
