This statement gives almost-everywhere differentiability of a convex function on an open set.

Let EEE be a finite-dimensional real normed space with its Borel measurable structure, let μ\muμ be an additive Haar measure on EEE, and let U⊆EU\subseteq EU⊆E be open. If f:E→Rf:E\to\mathbb Rf:E→R is convex on UUU, then

for μ-almost every x,x∈U  ⟹  f is differentiable at x.\text{for }\mu\text{-almost every }x,\quad x\in U\implies f\text{ is differentiable at }x.for μ-almost every x,x∈U⟹f is differentiable at x.

Equivalently, the exceptional set of points in UUU where differentiability fails is μ\muμ-null. This technical result supports almost-everywhere arguments involving subgradients of convex functions.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
