This statement shows that the designated affine residual is centered under a centered probability measure.

Let n∈Nn\in\mathbb Nn∈N, E=RnE=\mathbb R^nE=Rn represented by EuclideanSpace ℝ (Fin n), and let eje_jej be its standard orthonormal basis. Assume:

  1. μ\muμ is a probability measure on EEE, with id⁡∈L2(μ)\operatorname{id}\in L^2(\mu)id∈L2(μ).
  2. ∫x dμ(x)=0\int x\,d\mu(x)=0∫xdμ(x)=0.
  3. g:E→Rg:E\to\mathbb Rg:E→R belongs to L2(μ)L^2(\mu)L2(μ).

Define the residual L2.affineOrthPart by

h(x)=g(x)−∫g dμ−∑j∈Fin⁡(n)(∫⟨ej,y⟩g(y) dμ(y))⟨ej,x⟩.h(x)=g(x)-\int g\,d\mu-\sum_{j\in\operatorname{Fin}(n)}\left(\int\langle e_j,y\rangle g(y)\,d\mu(y)\right)\langle e_j,x\rangle.h(x)=g(x)−∫gdμ−j∈Fin(n)∑(∫⟨ej,y⟩g(y)dμ(y))⟨ej,x⟩.

Then

∫h dμ=0.\int h\,d\mu=0.∫hdμ=0.

This supplies the centering property of the concrete affine decomposition. Identity covariance is not required for this conclusion, and n=0n=0n=0 is included.

Formalization Note The L2L^2L2 hypotheses are MemLp hypotheses, including almost-everywhere strong measurability.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
